A 4 Star Silver graded traditional Country House Bed & Breakfast accommodation in Ambleside in the heart of the Lake District. Set peacefully away from the road, next to a working farm we are half a mile from Ambleside and ten minutes drive from Grasmere.
Our History
This grand Victorian building was built as a farm house in 1848 from the stones of ancient Rydal Hall, before being converted into a Country House in the early 1930’s. Today it has been sympathetically renovated to provide you with a perfect base to explore the beautiful Lake District, providing bed & breakfast accommodation near Ambleside.
Where We’re Located
There are few better sited country houses in the area, located in two acres of private gardens, surrounded by the magnificent Fairfield Horseshoe and Loughrigg Fell, with views out towards the fields of Rydal Valley to the front of the house but only 10 minutes walk away from Ambleside with its shops, cafes and restaurants.
Surrounding Areas
We are in a peaceful and secluded position, surrounded by mountains and fells in the heart of the Lake District with Grasmere being only 10 minutes drive away, with Keswick a further 10 minutes away. Windermere, Kendal, Coniston and Hawkshead are also easily accessed within half an hour. Waterhead is only 30 minutes walk away.
Our Reviews
Another lovely visit!
We visited the Crow How as some COVID restrictions were being lifted. The rooms were, as always, immaculate and there were good social distancing measures put into place. The Crow How is in a beautiful location just outside the town of Ambleside so restaurants and shops are easily accessible for walkers. Good choices for breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Super Sunny Weekend
Following a Covid rescheduling of our May bank holiday weekend trip to August instead, we arrived for our 4th stay at Crow How. Great location for lots of walks, only 10 mins walk into Ambleside. If you’re looking for a place to stay which is immaculately clean, decent parking, fantastic food, friendly owners and beautiful gardens then don’t hesitate to book you won’t be disappointed
Perfect
Lovely place full of character situated a short walk from busy Ambleside. Very picturesque. The staff were very friendly and the place was spotless. Visited 30/08 during Covid restrictions, the owners take this incredibly seriously and we found this very reassuring. Nice and new bedding and towels etc. Good breakfast with vast choice. Thanks again for our stay.
