About Crow How Country Guest House
Our accommodation is a 4 Star graded traditional Country House Bed & Breakfast located only half a mile from Ambleside. The building was built as a farmhouse in 1848 and converted into a Country House in the early 1930s.
Many people visit us for the weekend breaks or longer to explore Cumbria and the surrounding areas. We are based in a peaceful and secluded area, surrounded by fells and mountains such as Loughrigg Fell and with Windermere close by.
Stay With Us
There are 9 bedrooms for you to choose from for your weekend breaks, which can be booked through our online booking facility. The options include:
- 2 Premier Rooms
- 4 Superior Rooms
- 2 Standard Rooms
- 1 Flexible Room
You can check-in from 3 pm until 10 pm and leave your luggage and car with us if you arrive earlier. Breakfast is served from 8:30 am until 9:30 am and includes a fresh buffet of locally sourced food and cooked options. So whether you want a full Cumbrian breakfast, salmon, kippers or a vegetarian alternative, there is something for everyone.
We don’t serve evening meals, but we know the local restaurants in Cumbria and will be happy to recommend them and even book a table for you. Additionally, we have a secure garage on the premises for you to store bicycles or motorbikes for exploring the local area.
Explore the Local Area
There are many places to visit during your weekend breaks to Cumbria. Ambleside is the nearest town, which is a significant tourist location at the head of Lake Windermere. It is very popular with walkers and climbers with many shops, restaurants and cinemas to browse and enjoy.
You can take the ferry from Waterhead Pier to Bowness, Wray Castle or the Brockhole Visitor Centre. At Brockhole, you can have an incredible day out with boat or bike hire, laser clay shooting and archery. It is set in 30 acres of well-maintained gardens with great accessibility and plenty of places to eat.
